WHAT TO EXPECT:
If you are not used to churches, the very thought of walking through the door can be intimidating.  So, here is a brief outline of what you can expect:

When you arrive, you will be greeted at the door and given a service sheet, a liturgy booklet and a hymn book.  If you would like, we can also find you someone to sit with.

When you see the choir come in, you will know it is time to begin.  The service sheet and litrugy booklet should help you to follow the service – but do ask the people around you for help if anything is unclear.  They will be only to happy to help you.  In general we stand to sing, kneel to pray, and sit to listen to the readings and the sermon.  However, this is only a general ‘rule’ and many of our congregation like to do things slightly differently.  Therefore, please feel free to do whatever feels comfortable for you!

The Epicopalian church receives anyone who has been baptised for communion.  If you would like to receive communion, simply come to the altar with everyone else.   Please stand or kneel as you are able.  When we take communion, we receive both bread and wine, which is the norm in all Episcopal churches.  If you would rather not receive communion, you are most welcome to come to the altar for a blessing – just keep your hands folded or by your side so that the priest knows not to give you communion.

After the service, we meet for coffee in the Wade Hall.  You are very welcome to join us.
